Les rochers speaks of the strength and fragility of the human body in comparison to stones. I am very interested in the subject of the body, specifically it’s fragile, resistant, and exhaustive qualities. I developed this interest when I began training for an intense physical sport in circus arts. I am always thinking of the limits of the body, and how far it can be pushed before it breaks. After fracturing my rib in 2018, I began to think of the fragility of the body, which in turn made me realize its actual strength and the extent to which it can resist conflict. Furthermore, I am thinking of how after a body dies and deteriorates, the bones still remain. I am also interested in how stones appear massive and indestructible at a glance, when in reality they deteriorate rather easily and break to form many smaller stones. In this project I bring these qualities of stones and the body into conversation.
